In our materialistic Western culture, we are trained to judge and value people based on external criteria such as beauty and possessions. Over time, even the most glorious and beautiful monuments crumble and fade into obscurity. We may grow old gracefully and we sincerely hope that we all do, but grow old we must. When we are children, do we look at ourselves and regret how much we’ve changed? Yet, many of us are hard on ourselves when our hair turns gray and we have to don those reading spectacles. Instead of beating yourself up for the right and necessary changes of life, come with us and celebrate the chance to gracefully embrace those changes and use this positive attitude as the engine to move you to a higher level of prosperity.

In the old days, it was common to keep a diary. This was a place where personal thoughts could make it to the page. In recording your personal history, there is a process of grounding that lets you see where you’ve been, where you are and where you hope to go. By writing, we avoid the obsessive thought loops that happen when we try to work it out it in our head. Whether you call it a journal, notebook, diary, blog or personal story, doesn’t matter. Write it down!!! Don’t worry about grammar, spelling, punctuation or presentation. This is your private refuge for your ideas, emotions and dreams. We recommend keeping it private so you are free to truly expressive yourself without fear of criticism or misunderstanding. But whether it’s as private as a diary secure under lock and key or as public as a video blog on MySpace, bringing your thoughts to air by the light of day will make you the master of your life.

No matter who we are or what we do, there will come times when we feel angry, hurt or resentful. The feelings are natural and at times like this, we may feel an urge to strike back. Even if we are aware enough that we KNOW responding in anger is wrong, we might feel the need to be defensive or resort to other measures to make the hurt seem less significant. By letting go of the need to be right, we can find ways to bring closure, wholeness and viable solutions to any situation. Here’s how.

We talk this week about the incredible bounty you can provide for yourself by exercising patience. We also talk about how hard it is, sometimes, to be patient, when there are pressing matters at hand. At times, what seems so urgent could be our neurotic ego trying to take control; other times circumstances really demand immediate attention. Knowing the difference can help but also try to remember that in the midst of even the fiercest storm, a focused, disciplined, controlled and decisive mind will have the best chance of making the right choice.

The other day, at a resaurant, I complained that my food was cold and asked for it to be reheated. I was informed that the dish could not simply be warmed-up but had to be remade. As compensation for the delay, the manager made the entree complimentary and threw in 2 appetizers to boot. Complaint can bring you rewards if it’s done properly. The problem is that many times, there is a tendancy to adopt an attitude of complaint. Instead of using complaint to identify and correct a situation; it is used to propogate the situation and leave us stuck, resentful and sometimes physically and psychologically in a state of disease. We can’t promise you a free lunch but we can promise you you’ll feel better when you recognize an attitude of complaint and deal with it appropriately.
In 10 days, Guy Finley will be releasing his new book “The Essential Laws of Fearless Living”. For now, there’s a special promotion of the audio edition of his previous book. Check it out on the Guy Finley page to the right or Guy Finley Audio Program
We also have signed up with a new service, PODLINEZ, that offers our latest podcast by phone at (832) 532-0421. Long distance charges apply but otherwise it’s free. Traveling and need a dose of The Prosperity Podcast on your cell phone? Give it a try. My preliminary tests show the audio quality to be inferior but it’s available.

Back around the New Year, we did a show on charity and service. This week we go a little deeper and discover that making service your mission, your life’s purpose, can be a key to making you prosperous. We often say that do what you love, the money will follow. But when you add selfless action to the work you love you create prosperity not just in your own life but for the world around you as well.

We all make assumptions regularly. Some of our assumptions are rational and deliberate. Some are unconscious and reflexive. Some are instinctive. Some are merely habitual. Whatever the source of our assumptions, we must examine them because very often, these ingrained habitual viewpoints are limiting not just our view of the world but our possibilities for prosperity and accomplishment as well. In a dualistic material world, there seems to be no absolute truth but there can be certainty. The certainty that life is a process of growth and change and what we believe to be true may turn out to be wrong. Challenge your assumptions and see your personal growth skyrocket.

Kenji Kumara of Seattle offers an amazing opening, healing and realization technique which he calls Quantum Light Weaving (http://quantumlightweaving.com/). We were fortunate to be able to talk with Kenji about his technique during his recent visit to Sacramento. Listen, learn and enjoy. At the end of the show, there is a guided meditation. To just access the meditation alone, please go to the link on the sidebar. Our musical guest this week wants us to plug their band…

Many times in our lives we have significant setbacks in our attempts to achieve our goals. These losses can be in many forms such as the loss of a loved one or a job. We might suffer from diseases, a relationship disaster or societal prejudice. People often get in trouble with the law or have substance abuses problems or traffic accidents. The list of ways in which we can suffer is, unfortunately, endless. But in all cases, we can apply the principles of faith and the spiritual masters to marshall our inner resources and rise to and above the occasion.
