Watching the river flow

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

It’s a cliche that we hear often.  Go with the flow.  Barry Stevens in her rembrance of Gestalt therapy pioneer Fritz Perls writes “Don’t Push the River”.  Bob Dylan sings: “But this ‘ol river keeps on rollin’, though.  No matter what gets in the way and which way the wind does blow, and as long as it does I’ll just sit here, and watch the river flow”.  It’s one thing to be smart enough to not resist this powerful flow. It’s quite another and very exciting to be fully in the flow.   In deep concentration and involvement we can release our own energy and thereby realize our full abilities by being in harmony with the infinite power of the universe.  Whether you call it “the zone” or “flow” or finding your groove, this is the place you want to be.

Don’t Let Them Get You Down

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

We’ve all experienced it.  The friend who has more complaints than compliments.  The relative who calls only when disaster strikes.  The co-worker whose car breaks down everyday.  How do we respond to those who bring a constant stream of negatives into our lives?  We suggest the best way is to cultivate an attitude of positive expectation, compassion and love.  No action is necesary, just listening with an open heart and an even more open mind.
